3. Using Corpora in Translation. A team from the UK's University of Portsmouth explained how translators can use corpora to improve their translations, including a demonstration of how to quickly and easily build your own specialised corpus for day-to-day use. £20

4. Subtitling and Subtitle Translation. Marga Burke, an experienced French and Italian to English subtitler, explained how spoken dialogue is converted to the written word, shared techniques on working within time and space constraints, demonstrated some of the software required and covered some tips on how to get into this fascinating field. £20

 5. Translation Theory for Practitioners. Janet Fraser, an experienced translator, editor and lecturer, explained some of the key elements of translation theory and how to apply them to your everyday work. 6. Financial Planning for Freelance Translators (for UK residents). Alison Lane, an independant financial adviser in the UK, gave advice for freelancers on planning for retirement, ensuring sufficient income when business is slow or when in poor health. £20
