Using Corpora in Translation

The webinar provides participants with both general and specific information on corpora. It is a team presentation by various members of the School of Languages at the University of Portsmouth.
Ian Kemble, who has a long-standing interest in the use of corpora in translator training, will introduce the webinar.  The main contributors are John Williams and Charlotte Taylor, both lecturers in English Language and Linguistics, and Juliette Scott, who is a professional translator. The webinar includes a demonstration of the ’30 minute DIY corpus’, thereby showing how a translator can usefully supplement his/her terminology toolset within a professionally realistic time-scale.
