Dr. Karen Leube is a native of Pennsylvania. After earning degrees in German in the United States, she completed a year-long translation internship at an international organization in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1984. She moved to Germany, where she began working as a freelance translator. In 1992, Karen embarked on her career as a university lecturer in the translation departments at the University of Heidelberg and then the University of Mainz at Germersheim. Working with her husband, an anatomist and university professor, she developed university courses in medical translation and now faciliates continuing professional development seminars for medical translators for professional associations in Germany and the United States (BDÜ, ATA).
