About the Video

FR-EN Translation Workshop

In FR – EN translation effective communications are CLEAR communications: contextualized, logical, essential, ambiguity-free and resonating. To express the meaning of the message in English in a linguistically and culturally relevant fashion, the professional translator often needs to distance him or herself from the French source text.

The webinar is divided into four 15-minute segments. In each, participants worked on an excerpt of a tricky source text, with the project’s brief. Key pitfalls, choices and solutions to ensure the text’s message comes through on target are discussed.

Anne de Freyman is a French native from Provence, with 16 years’ experience as a full-time freelance translator of English to French. She is currently based in the beautiful city of York. Over these 16 years she has translated many millions of words for a very large number of translation agencies and direct clients, including individuals and SMEs.

She is a qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting and a member of the Société française des traducteurs. In 2010, she taught practical translation on-line to MA students at Exeter University. She also became an assessor for the admissions department of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in 2010.
