About the Video

The German Legal System for translators Module 2: EN-DE translation workshop

An Insight into what legal translators need to know about the law, the legal process and their role within it

The language of German legal system may appear incomprehensible and untranslatable, but actually it is not. However, the world of legal translation is rather different from other kinds of translation and translators who do not appreciate this are unlikely to succeed.

The trainer chose four different texts about German legal system to discuss: two extracts from agreements, an extract from a judgment and an extract from a piece of academic writing.
