Getting to Grips with Google Analytics

As translators we know that words are hugely important, but we are often so used to transferring ownership of those words back to the client, that we forget about the importance of our own words, on our own websites. Our online content is how our clients do a bit of window shopping, and how they get in touch, but it’s also how they find us, through our buddy Google. Let’s have a look at two ways that Google can help us.

Google Analytics can seem intimidating from the outside. But if you’ve got a website, and you don’t utilise it, you are missing out on a wealth of useful data. We’re going to tackle the following basics:

  • How do I set up Google Analytics? (With screenshots & examples)
  • Main metrics (and where to find them)
  • What the metrics mean
  • What the metrics measure

This webinar is linked with Writing Copy for your Business Website, but you don’t need to watch one to understand the other.

  1. Grischa Raoul Wenzeler

A tricky subject for non-tekkies like myself. However, Jo manages in her webinar to explain the essentials of Google Analytics and gives valuable advice on how to use this function to monitor the effectiveness for one’s own translation business website and also how to get further information to master the many aspects of this valuable tool.

  2. I followed Jo’s webinar and I found it very interesting to learn the basis of Google Analytics, a tool that can help us understand the effectiveness of our websites. The webinar gives an overview of the platform and the terminology associated to it. A very useful webinar to learn about the audience and the behaviour of the potential clients that visit our websites.
