Translating for the Automobile Industry
In the modern world, almost everyone needs an automobile, so it is not surprising that the automobile industry is enormous. In this webinar, Dr Brian Mitchell looks at different aspects of this business from car parts to car sales. He examine how and where to find the technical information necessary for translations such as patents, technical manuals, etc. He also looks at some of the accessory systems in a car, such as the air-conditioning or electrical systems and the means of supply. There is a vast infrastructure involved in the sales and maintenance of automobiles and a review of the terminology and the management concepts used here will also be given. Finally a review of dos and don’ts in the field of technical translations is presented.
James Brian Mitchell is an experienced technical translator and has published over 120 scientific papers and is the co-author of a textbook on Atomic Collisions Physics. He has been a consultant in the Aeronautics , Oil and Automotive industries and holds patents in these areas. As a Professor of Physics in Canada and France, he has given over 80 invited scientific presentations at conferences and Universities in North America, Europe and the Middle East.
