Legal Translation for Translators to and from Arabic

Legal translation has a wide variety of genres that pose difficulties for several translators. This three-part course helps identify the basic elements of three genres which can be said to be of the highest importance. In many cases, many people have tried to learn legal translation, but in the wrong way. This eCPD course, taught by a leading trainer in Amman, Jordan, will put you on the right track towards professionalism in legal translation. The course, in particular, addresses three rubrics: legal terminology and concepts, legal phrasing for the translation of laws, and aspects of commercial contracts.

Mohammed Abu-Risha is a training consultant for translators. He is currently the training and simultaneous interpreting manager at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Translation, Distribution and Publishing and the Vice-President of Arab Professional Translators’ Network (ATN-APTS). He received a Master’s degree in translation from the University of Jordan and has worked in translation, teaching, simultaneous interpreting and editing since then. Mohammed has given dozens of courses on translation in a variety of fields for individuals and international organizations including the United Nations, the Australian Embassy, the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. He has authored a book on translation for university students to help in making translation training a discipline. In March he gave a course in Legal Translation for Arabic Translators.
