Pippa Sandford Author since: 2015
I work mainly for agencies specialising in medical and pharmaceutical translation and for a few companies direct. Pippa Sandford MITI, has been a full-time freelance medical translator for more than thirty years. She studied languages at university and, after a brief interval working in the field of advertising and a short break to have a family, she started working as an apprentice freelance translator for Dr. David Oliver's medical and pharmaceutical translation business. One day she realised that reading the references helped enormously with understanding the subject, and she’s been learning her trade ever since, via Karin Band’s CMETI course, many workshops, and regular use of hospital and science libraries. She edited the ITI Medical and Pharmaceutical Network newsletter for some years, and has taught on the Salford postgraduate translation degree course.
